Ornithocheirus walking
3ds max, BodyPaint, mental ray, Photoshop, Silo, ZBrush

Client: Mudbrick Media (USA)

This is the Ornithocheirus rigged and rendered in Maya/MR.

The composition with the backplate was done in Photoshop.
To explain the workflow a bit better: The first volume mesh was done in 3dsMax, taken to Zbrush, modeling to a medium res model, which was then retopologized using Silo. UVs done in 3dsMax, textures in BodyPaint and displacement in Zbrush 2.0.

Rig was done in Maya 7, lots of custom scripts to accomodate both walking and flying mode, muscles with cMuscleSystem and wing as muscle membrane, with jiggle and stretch.

I hope you all like it, took us 1 month for the entire process. This render was done recently, as a personal portfolio image.
